Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, also known as Selena, was an American singer, songwriter, model, actress, and fashion designer. She was born on April 16, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas. Selena rose to fame in the early 1990s as the lead vocalist of her family band, Selena y Los Dinos.
Selena became known as the "Queen of Tejano music" and was considered one of the most influential Latin artists of all time. She won numerous awards for her music, including a Grammy Award for Best Mexican-American Album in 1994.
Tragically, Selena's life was cut short when she was murdered by the president of her fan club in March 1995. Her death shocked fans around the world and she is still remembered and revered for her contributions to music and the Latinx community.
Selena's music continues to be popular today and she has left a lasting legacy as a talented and beloved artist. Her story was also immortalized in the 1997 biopic film "Selena," starring Jennifer Lopez in the title role.
